About Me

Hi, I’m Darlene (a.k.a Dee).  I’m a wife, mother of 3 adult sons, and grandmother of 5 grandchildren. As a recently retired career government human resources employee, I have decided to pursue my passion to walk in my purpose as a Health and Wellness Coach.

This is my passion: to follow God's purpose in me to make a difference in people’s lives by helping them to reach their health goals, to become well and whole in their body, mind and spirit.

I am a senior student at Creighton University. I am pursuing dual degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Healthy Lifestyle Management and Master of Science in Integrative Health and Wellness. My focus is healthy aging and disease prevention in adult women, particularly the prevention of brain diseases (the population most affected by them).

My introduction to Integrative Health and Wellness occurred several years ago when I was caretaker to my mom while she battled Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). In researching AD, I felt compelled to learn more, so I accepted a position to work with integrative wellness practitioners. The doctors treated clients like people, without the medical gaze that looks solely at the illness. Through their knowledge, skills, and abilities, I witnessed many turn from sickly to healthy and whole. These experiences birthed a desire to learn and apply holistic wellness, not to treat symptoms but to effectively resolve physical problems by identifying and eliminating root causes of disease. By doing this, practitioners addressed the whole person. Therefore, I chose to study to become a Health and Wellness Coach at Creighton.

My other interests include cooking, dancing, exercising, mentoring, mission trips, anything sports (playing or watching), and spending time with my grandbabies.
